Tonebank International Music Academy and Festival brings together world-class faculty and performers to create transformative educational experiences in music for students and the general public while supporting artistic innovation and maintaining the highest integrity.
Enrollment in the Tonebank International Music Academy and Festival is open to serious, dedicated violinists, cellists, and pianists between the ages of 10-17. Located on the verdant 300-acre campus of The Loomis Chaffee School, one of the most prestigious independent high schools in the United States, Tonebank offers students nurturing but rigorous musical training, including regular private instruction, chamber music coaching, opportunities to participate in master classes, and concerts for the public. With a roster of faculty comprised of leading virtuoso performers, students will have the unparalleled experience of interacting with and learning from some of the most respected musicians from all over the world in master classes, rehearsals and concerts, as well as during daily life on the Festival’s campus.
In addition to exceptional training in the classical music repertoire, Tonebank students will have the chance to explore other major forms of music each year. In 2019, Tonebank will offer students the unique opportunity to learn how to play and perform tango music from two of the world’s pre-eminent tango musicians.
Moreover, Tonebank students will learn the Alexander Technique from a Juilliard School professor who specializes in teaching this form of physical training. Championed by professional musicians everywhere, Alexander Technique increases awareness of posture and prevents debilitating, potentially career-ending injuries.
During the three-week festival, Tonebank students will have access to the state-of-the-art facilities of The Loomis Chaffee School, including an indoor swimming pool and a fully licensed and staffed student health care center.
